Plan your Book

Have a book idea but not sure what the first steps might be?
I’ll guide you in envisioning your book as it would be out in the world and in the hands of readers to give you direction on how to best structure sections and chapters to create a bold narrative arc.

A well-planned book not only creates the most impact, it can also help you avoid costly rewrites, adds interest to agents and publishers, and can ultimately make your book a pleasure to read.

Over an agreed-upon time frame (from three to six weeks) we will build a solid foundation for your book by working through your project goals, clarifying who your ideal reader is, and seeing where your book might fit with existing books. This work fits best for authors interested in self-publishing.

The Plan your Book includes:

  • One 30-minute pre-coaching call to discuss your goals
  • A digital guide to planning and developing your nonfiction book
  • Three rounds of deadlines with editorial feedback
  • Three 45-minute video calls to guide you in your progress
  • A 30-minute post-coaching call to ensure you feel confident in your next steps

Crafting a Proposal

Want to get the attention of an agent or traditional publisher?

Creating a pitch-perfect proposal is vital to grabbing the attention of gatekeepers. Through the process of guiding you in developing the proposal, I'll help you get really clear about your book; crafting a proposal challenges authors to present their book idea in a granular way that presents many opportunities to consider how their book could best be shaped.

I'll provide regular, targeted feedback and guidance during this complicated, involved process, which can often take months to complete. Once we agree on a timeline that will work best with your goals and life demands, I will give you assignments based on proposal elements.

The Crafting a Proposal service includes:

  • A digital guide to writing a proposal for your nonfiction book
  • Regular deadlines for completing proposal elements, with editorial feedback
  • Regular 45-minute video calls to guide you in your progress
  • A 30-minute video call on completion to discuss the next steps
